Whiskers having his heart checked

During every examination, our veterinarians listen to your pet’s heart to judge the rate and rhythm of the heart beat. If we hear a heart murmur caused by a leaking valve or any unusual rhythm of the heart, we pursue more extensive testing such as echocardiography (ECHO) and electrocardiogram (EKG).

Dr. Izad, our board certified vet, will use his ultrasound equipment to perform echocardiography. Echocardiography, also known as a cardiac ultrasound, provides a very clear picture on how the heart is functioning. An EKG, which shows tracings of the electrical impulses that run the heart, might also be used. The information from these tests provides our veterinarians with valuable information to diagnose your pet. We also have access to a network of cardiologists that specialize in this area, so that we can confirm our findings and get expert advice on how to treat your pet.
